Ella den Elzen is an MArch student at the Peter Guo-Hua Fu School of Architecture at McGill University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from the University of Waterloo. Her professional experience includes working as an architectural designer and urban designer in design firms both within Canada and internationally. Currently she is working on a Design Studio Research project under the supervision of Ipek Tureli, researching immigrant detention facilities in Canada. Her research centers on drawing and visual representation as a method of unveiling the punitive nature of migrant detention.
