Isabelle Lemay is an MA student in Political Science at McGill University, enrolled in the Development Studies Option. She holds a Joseph Armand Bombardier Scholarship (SSHRC – Master’s) for the year 2018-2019. Before joining the program in 2017, she completed a B.Sc. in International Studies at Université de Montréal. Her professional experience includes internships at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal, the UQAM Raoul-Dandurand Chair of Strategic and Diplomatic Studies, and Oxfam-Québec. Her research interests focus on movements of sympathy towards refugees in the Global North, and the mechanisms through which sympathy is cultivated as an alternative to restrictiveness and securitization.
