Joanna Jordan

Joanna Jordan is an MA student in the Department of Geography, working under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Moser. She is a recipient of the SSHRC CGS-M scholarship, and is currently based at Aix-Marseille Université as a visiting scholar within the TELEMMe Research Group (Temps, Espaces, Langages, Europe Méridionale - Méditerranée). Her research interests include irregular transit migration, border securitization, informal routes, settlements, networks, and solidarities, particularly at the periphery of Europe. Based upon extensive experience as a volunteer and activist along the Balkan Route, as well as several months of multi-sited field work, her thesis examines the proliferation of informal transit camps in Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina, and the spatiality and daily practices of protracted migrant immobility en route.
